Artist's Comments

From Truly Victorian patterns, I made this late bustle era ensemble to wear to my 25th birthday party along with a few friends. A pity the roses weren't blooming yet, but the day was absolutely gorgeous.

I wanted an excuse to get dressed up and play a silly game of croquet, so I invented one.

The overskirt and bodice are made of some synthetic satin, the underskirt changeable synthetic taffeta. Someday I'll be able to afford silk. ::sigh::

I really love the look. Even though it isn't silk it sure looks beautiful. I really love the choice of color and the feathers on your hat. What a wonderful reason to make a dress! I would like to do that for my birthday too. :) How many hours did you put into it?

Beautiful job, and it fits you so well - and, I'm loving the color!

What a great excuse to dress up, indeed!
